ISANO (International Standards for the flow measurements -
Active Network Objects) is a
project supported by the Croatian Ministry of Science and
Technology (Contract No. 353-16-10-2002, October 11, 2002). ISANO provides an object oriented approach
to the realization of the software components
implementing the international standards in the form of active network objects. The project will illustrate
the conversion of the international standards into the software objects consisting of the corresponding
input/output parameters, intermediate results, functions, ranges of validity and error status.
The project focuses on the implementation of the flow measurement
standards only, but we hope that this approach could be applied to the measurement standards in general.
Increasing complexity of the contemporary industrial measurement systems is a common characteristic.
The partitioning of the measurement process into the components that can be realized as separate software objects
facilitates the development of the measurement system. Using a client/server approach, the measurement
system components become shareable and accessible across the network. The components can be deployed
anywhere on the network and shared by a considerable number of applications. The project gives the
guidelines for the realization of the flow measurement system with distributed software components,
i.e., measurement procedures.
